Our platform, ModelFlow, empowers scientists and engineers to unify computational modelling, machine learning, AI and scientific workflows, accelerating the development of life-changing therapies across biologics, small molecules and advanced modalities.

As ModelFlow evolves into an enterprise workflow platform, the backend architecture becomes central to the product: powering workflow execution, model orchestration, artifact management, enterprise integrations, traceability, collaboration and AI-assisted workflow creation.

Role Summary

We are now hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help design and build the backend foundations that make ModelFlow scalable, reliable, extensible and enterprise-ready.

This role is focused on the backend systems that power scientific workflows, model execution, data movement, artifact handling, metadata capture, user actions, integrations and platform services.

You will work closely with Product, Workflow Engine, Data Platform, AI and Infrastructure teams to design robust backend patterns that support enterprise customers, scientific users and future platform growth.

This is a hands-on senior engineering role for someone who can think architecturally, build clean systems, make pragmatic technical decisions and turn complex scientific workflow requirements into scalable backend capabilities.

What You Will Own

1. Backend Architecture & Core Platform Services

• Design and build the backend foundations that power ModelFlow, including services, APIs, domain models, permissions, state management and long-running processes.
• You will help define scalable patterns for workflows, models, datasets, artifacts, runs, outputs and users, ensuring the platform can grow without relying on fragile one-off implementations.

2. Workflow Execution & Orchestration

• Build backend systems that support workflow creation, execution, monitoring, versioning and reproducibility.
• This includes multi-step workflows, model chaining, parameter management, artifact generation, execution logs, asynchronous jobs and workflow state transitions.
• You will help ensure workflows are reliable, restartable, traceable and suitable for enterprise scientific use cases.

3. Enterprise Integrations, Infrastructure & Reliability

• Create backend services that can integrate with customer environments, data platforms, identity systems, storage, compute backends and external modelling tools.
• You will work closely with infrastructure teams to ensure services are secure, observable, scalable and production-ready, with strong patterns for logging, monitoring, auditability, tenancy and operational reliability.
